Volleyball team knocks off Keuka college for third straight win

Morrisville State’s volleyball team defeated Keuka College three sets to one Oct. 22, extending its winning streak to three matches.

The Mustangs (18-8 overall, 9-2 North Eastern Athletic Conference) led the Wolves (11-9, 6-5 NEAC) with seven service aces, 32 kills, 50 digs, 14 blocks and 29 assists, According to the Morrisville athletics website. Keuka amassed 11 aces, 33 kills, 42 digs, four blocks and 33 assists.

Morrisville, currently second in the NEAC standings behind SUNY-Poly, won the first set 25-17. Keuka won the second 25-23 before the Mustangs took the final two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-20. Megyan Merrill led Morrisville by contributing 13 kills in the decisive fourth set, According to the Morrisville athletics website. Helena Hanes contributed 26 assists while Samantha Wolf added 16 digs.   

The Mustangs then extended their victory streak to five matches by beating Cazenovia College Oct. 22 and Wells College Oct. 23. The final match of the regular season will take place Oct. 26 at Hartwick College.
